Happy Sunday everyone! I have a big week coming up and my sister reminded me that I need to get my "prayer warriors" on the case, so here goes. ;)
I haven't updated for awhile because I really haven't had any good news to update on. But, FINALLY, last week things have been taking a turn. The last time I wrote I was struggling with a few different immunotherapy side effects. Hypophysitis and colitis were the biggest ones. But basically my immune system was just going crazy and trying to take everything down with it. I have been on steroids since the end of December, and believe me my family is ready for me to be done with those! 120mg/day of Prednisone for months will make you CRAZY...and give our huge chipmunk cheeks (side note - I'm actually thankful I have to wear a mask in public)! But, here's the good news. I started getting infusions of a medication called Remicade (infliximab), and the third infusion must have been the charm because I have started to feel almost normal last week, and have been able to slowly taper off the steroids. Yay!
So now for the prayer requests. I have a pet scan and brain MRI on Tuesday (which just happens to be my birthday...I know, right?), We need to make sure there isn't anymore cancer lingering though. Not going to lie, I am going to be more than a little bit ticked if the immunotherapy treatment managed to take down my entire endocrine and GI system, but somehow let melanoma through. So please pray for clear scans and that I continue to feel good with this new medication. I am optimistic, and so is my doctor. I am sure I will have good news by the end of this week. :)
Thank you and stay safe...I will update later this week!
XOXO,
Lacey
