NIH & Biopsy Results

If you have talked to me the last week or so, you know that I mention the word "false positive" a lot. As doctors explained what would be happening, I would always interrupt them and say "of course, we need to wait for the biopsy results...it could always be a false positive on the scan". They would kind of smirk and say, ummm, yeah sure...we will wait and see. Sooooo...biopsy results came back yesterday and it was 100% Melanoma. One point for the Dr's, 0 for Lacey.

So now we move on to Step One. I have decided to look at this process in steps and not the big picture, helps not to get overwhelmed. I am going to have a total lymph node removal on that side next Wednesday at NIH. We met with Dr Rosenberg, who is literally like the God Father of Melanoma research. He is a 78 year old codger (My Grandma Everett's word) that is literally a genius. Don't worry, he doesn't operate anymore, but his team will do the surgery. They predict I will need to be in the hospital after the surgery about 2-4 days.

The happy part of the story is that my mom, sister & nieces are here for Spring Break. So we get to enjoy a few days of fun and then they will turn into my nursing staff. ha! The Butchers are here for a week, and then the Gongaware's get here two days later. My mom stays over both visits. :) Feeling pretty blessed to have my awesome family out here to spoil me. Ginger came with gifts and my mom came with all my favorite snacks. #HappyGirl
